This is a road trip from Porto to a region of indescribable beauty where Port wine is aged, we will get to know the cultural landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the interesting history of the development of the region, and of course we will taste wine and Port wine.
Itinerary
Departure from Porto in the morning
1. Our first stop is the city of Amarante. Amarante is a cosy and traditional small town, one of the most beautiful places in Portugal, the Douro Valley. It is a city of love, courage and sweets
2. The second stop is the São Leonardo lookout point. From here we have a magnificent panoramic view of the river, vineyards, mountains and valleys. Here we will also have lunch with amazing views, delicious food and tasty port!"
3. The third stop is the city of Pinhão. Here we can take an hour-long walk along the Douro River, enjoying the magnificent scenery.
4. After the river walk, an amazing car journey awaits us on Portugal's most beautiful road Estrada Nacional EN 222. From here, from the left bank of the river, the view of the hills, the river and the vineyards is simply stunning. The hillsides are surrounded by stepped terraces built over centuries and vineyards, which are thus saturated with moisture and sunshine.
5. A stop at one of the most beautiful wineries Quinta da Pacheca. Here you can taste both dry wines and the various Port wines for which the whole region is famous.
6. Return to Porto in time for dinner, and enjoy the surrounding scenery along the way.
